Hepatitis C/Hep C is a disease caused by HCV (Hepatitis C Virus). Hep C usually does not cause any symptoms until it causes the host to develop other diseases, which can be fatal. If untreated, Hep C can cause liver cirrhosis, liver failure, liver cancer, and dilated blood vessels in the stomach and esophagus, which risk severe internal bleeding. 

This is a contagious disease. 60% of all transmission is by sharing unsterilized needles for injection drug use.It can also be spread by blood transfusions, medical procedures, or even body modifications (e.g., tattoos, piercings), if the tools used are not sterilized.
